Yellowstone

The whole of Yellowstone is a volcanic basin. Steam vents and super-heated pools of water, minerals and mud fester on the landscape like open sores. Life goes on in the knowledge that a massive, catastophic eruption, extinguishing all living things for hundreds of miles could potentially occur at any moment...perhaps a year from now, fifty years, 100 years, or even....tomorrow.
