Here Goes Everything

I enjoy music. Listen to it well. Play it on my guitar with perhaps less-than-stellar proficiency. But I revel in it. Music is the backdrop of life and provides that extra spark of pleasure in so many of the things we do. The music of a quite influential TV documentary I viewed a couple of years ago spoke to me, helping draw me into the story and played a big part in motivating me to ride again.

The documentary is known readily to many people with motorcycle interests. It's called The Long Way Round. The real life adventure of two actor/motorcycle enthusiasts, Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman, who strike out east from London and continue that heading across 15 countries, circling the globe to their final destination of New York 20,000 miles later. Their trials prior to leaving and later on the road are fantastic to watch and can really put you in the moment. The music enhances that sense even more. Part of this was the music of the London-based band called 50Hz.

Eight cuts of the total music soundtrack used in that documentary were 50Hz compositions. I've been fortunate enough to befriend the lead singer, Mark Nilsson, who agreed to let me post a wonderful 50Hz track on this website serving as a nice intro to the concept of Land Flight. Thanks, mate..you've been a great inspiration, good friend and able cheerleader for this project.

The track is called "Welcome To The World" and is included on the new CD release of the band's music. The CD is titled "Here Goes Everything" and I recommend it highly. It's riveting, melodic, and haunting. I know it's great to listen to in the garage, on the road, at home, and even in the car when you can't ride the bike. I invite you to visit the band's website or find them on iTunes (music/alternative/50Hz/Here Goes Everything), order this great CD, and post a message of support for Mark and the guys of 50Hz. They're good mates.
